An Extraordinary Achievement in Dual Hull Shipbuilding

5 October 2023 • Written by Holly Margerrison and Dea Jusufi

The Italian Sea Group (TISG) has revealed the first photographs of This Is It's interiors following her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023. Built under the shipyard's Tecnomar brand, the 43.5-metre motor attracted plenty of attention in Port Hercule, moored alongside fellow TISG catamaran the Art Explorer.

The owner is Tasos Papanastasiou, a "self-made Cypriot" and founder of XM – one of the world’s largest financial forex platforms. Michel Chryssicopoulos, global managing partner at IYC, was the broker who introduced the client.

This Is It's sculptural exterior is designed to "evoke fantastic sea creatures", with a hull optimised to enhance hydrodynamic efficiency for reduced fuel consumption. IMO Tier III-compliant, she will also be equipped with innovative exhaust gas treatment technology (SCR - Selective Catalytic Reduction) to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Naval architecture is owed to Lateral Naval Architects.

Enveloped by more than 600 square meters of glass windows, the catamaran's composition created a significant challenge in terms of weight control. According to TISG, the complex curved shape of the aluminum superstructure pushed the performance of the material to its limits. "The realization of this extraordinary project challenges the 'conventional' perceptions, driving us to completely recreate the boundaries of aesthetic parameters," said founder and CEO of TISG Giovanni Costantino.

Accommodation is for 12 guests across six ensuite cabins. Brought to life with a large skylight and with a head height of 3.3 metres, the spacious owner's area will evoke the feeling of a "seaside villa" with a panoramic terrace and a vertical garden spanning two decks. There is further accommodation for a crew of 12.

Interiors are owed to Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of The Italian Sea Group. The spaces are styled in futuristic shades of champagne and platinum-grey with smooth finishes such as Alcantara suede, high-quality leather and bronze, platinum, and gold metallic surfaces.

Inside Tecnomar's radical 43m catamaran "This is It"

“Naturally, what applies to external lines also applies to interior styling,” said Gian Marco Campanino. “Smooth, cocooning and curvilinear are perfect words to describe the interior of the yacht, plus a touch of pure luxury due to the use of sophisticated and precious materials."

The main lounge features floor-to-ceiling doors that, when fully opened, connect with the exterior lounge to create a holistic convivial area complete with a bar, game area, swimming pool and formal dining space. There is also a galley with polarized glass for events and show cooking.

The upper deck hosts a spa, fitted with a dedicated treatment area, sauna and sensorial shower. Adjacent to the spa is the yacht's "playroom", a convertible cabin that can be used to entertain children or as an additional guest room, according to the shipyard.

This Is It has a maximum speed of 19 knots and a range of 3,500 nautical miles when pared back to 10 knots.

She will be the largest motor catamaran available for charter from April 2024.

Yep, that's Monaco harbor and what better perch to take it in than "That's It's" 43 foot wide aft main deck.

The owner's main bath lavatory is about as radical and cool as it gets and according to the Italian Sea Group, their interior builders, as adept and experienced as they certainly are, found it a little challenging. It's a radical departure from any other bath on any other yacht and it stretched the boundaries of both engineering and fabrication.

With dining for twelve on the main deck,  each guests will be treated to stunning vistas and wrapped in more than three square meters of hand-applied almond gold leaf from above.  The use of compound curves in this yacht break precedence from almost anything to ever come before it. But the results are a study in oblique minimalism and aesthetic artistry.

Which comes first, the sore muscles or the tired eyes? Either way, it's impossible to imagine a more magical way to enjoy a massage. Note the angled window wall and the asian themed lattice work at the ceiling. It's minimalism at its absolute best and a wondrous contemporary adaptation of Jules Verne's imagination.

We live in a world where almost anything we can imagine, can be realized and that realization itself has resulted in the pushing of boundaries in almost every facet of life. But for the most privileged people on earth, it is often manifested in fanciful realities that for most of us only come in dreams. . . . real, tangible places where dreams have been transformed and brought into the empirical world. Regardless your cultural or sociological leanings, it's amazing to walk onto a craft like this and not be in awe of human accomplishment. The designers, architects, and builders of this magnificent catamaran, are to be celebrated.

We look forward to seeing what Technomar pulls off next!
